Digital innovation is driving transformation in the treasury management industry. Bank technology is evolving to meet new challenges and stay ahead of the changing payment landscape. Consumers and corporations are expecting faster, easier and more transparent solutions. Artificial intelligence, robotics technology and automation all have the potential to transform operations and eliminate some routine processes. 


The goal of this session is to discuss strategies for leveraging technology in new ways in order to enhance payment solutions. We will also explore case studies involving successful implementation of artificial intelligence to process payment — from a payables and receivables perspective.

Speaker Information

Adam Devine is a Vice President and Head of Marketing at WorkFusion, the leading provider of intelligent automation. Adam leads market development, product and brand marketing, as well as strategic partnerships. 

Adam began his career in management consulting in the Financial Institutions Group at BearingPoint and has spent the past 14 years in tech product marketing and advertising — most recently as director of strategy at 360i. 


Adam holds a bachelor degree from the University of Vermont.


Mel Steals is a Senior Vice President tasked with strategy development and long term planning in PNC Treasury Management.


Mel’s career includes various treasury and finance positions with large companies such Atlantic Richfield and Campbell Soup. Over the last 17 years, Mel has served in a number of leadership capacities for PNC Financial Services Group. Before joining PNC Treasury Management, he was a member of PNC’s corporate wide Continuous Improvement Team, served as Chief Financial Officer for PNC’s Corporate Performance Measurement group and managed PNC’s Corporate Strategic Planning function. Prior to his current role, Mel launched an invoice automation service at PNC that encompassed the conversion of paper invoices to digital data for processing, the integration with one of the world’s largest E-invoicing networks and a feature rich AP workflow tool. 


Mel received his MBA from Dartmouth’s Amos Tuck School of Business and his BS degree from the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania. Mel has also earned the designation of Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) from the Association for Financial Professionals (AFP) and serves as a founding member of the MindShift board that the AFP has established to understand disruptive technologies.
