Creating an Effective Investment Policy and Dynamic Liquidity Management

How to balance macroeconomic factors against internal controls and resources are an ever-changing challenge for balance sheet management when it comes to investing cash. How do I maximize yield? How do I prioritize safety and liquidity? This session is designed to bring a fresh approach to adapting to changes within the money markets with respect to creating an investment policy. Corporates both public and private can achieve greater cash management controls by utilizing these techniques to map out a strategy that changes as conditions warrant. Best practices in forming and modifying an internal policy will be covered: Asset Allocation, Reporting Requirements, Delegation of Authority, Objective, Permissible Investments, and Compliance.

Cody Mamone, CTP joined the Treasury Solutions Group in November 2017. Prior to joining TSG, Cody spent four years as a corporate practitioner in treasury, all of which were in the challenging energy sector. He most recently finished a restructuring engagement with an oilfield services company, Nuverra Environmental Solutions. As Treasury Manager, forecasting and preserving liquidity, maintaining an optimal borrowing base and credit facility, and managing relationships with outside consultants and advisors were paramount to success preceding a $500MM+ Ch. 11 bankruptcy.

Before his experience at Nuverra, Cody achieved early success as an Analyst at one of the largest downstream oil/gas companies in the US, Western Refining. His achievements there consisted of managing treasury operations for three public companies, including a newly spun-off MLP, analyzing the capital structure and strategic balance sheet investments, and modeling commodity and interest rate risks.

Cody earned a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University, in addition to a Certificate in International Business Studies. He is an active member of AFP, Certified Treasury Professional, and is based in PNC’s New York City office.
