Session Description

Handling cross-border payments continues to be a challenge for organizations’ treasury operations due to issues such as high costs, lack of timeliness and fee transparency, to name a few.  Throughout the past few years, a new wave of innovation and collaboration within the payments industry has aimed to tackle these global payment issues for businesses through a set of new systems and services.  


Since the inception of these new industry solutions, many are curious as to what progress has been made; the types of issues (if any) still remain; what comprises payments digitization; and how organizations can maintain security while taking advantage of the changes.

Speaker Information

Laura McGortey is a Managing Director with BNY Mellon Treasury Services responsible for designing solutions to assist our client’s in solving complex cross border payment challenges.


She has more than 25 years of experience in various aspects of global correspondent banking, cash management and the procure-to-pay cycle via roles held over 20 years within BNY Mellon Treasury Services.  Most recently Laura was the global product line manager responsible for the product definition, development and strategy for all aspects of high value indirect clearing services including foreign currency accounts and foreign exchange payment services. Before BNY Mellon, she served as director of purchasing and materials management for a community hospital.  


Laura holds a Bachelor’s degree from LaRoche College and an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh.



Kevin O’Neil is a Regional Account Manager and specializes in working with companies to streamline their payment processes and the application of SWIFT products and services. He joined SWIFT in 2014 after having spent over 20 years in Project Management, Product Management and Product Development roles for JPMorgan Chase in New York, Tokyo, and London and HSBC in New York. 


Kevin is a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
